Maayan Cohen

Maayan received her BSc in Psychology and her (Research) MSc in Developmental and School Psychology at Leiden University. Originally from Israel, she is no stranger to the expat life, having moved to the Netherlands with her family and having studied at the International School of Amsterdam.

Maayan has worked in several international settings and has a lot of experience working with and supporting expat children in international schools (e.g., having worked as a school counsellor, and having worked with students with additional/special educational needs).

She values holistic approaches towards supporting children, flexibly integrating elements from several therapeutic approaches – like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Solution-Focused Therapy – and actively involving the children and their parents in the process. Additionally, she is learning to implement techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Maayan highly values cultivating and maintaining a positive and supportive relationship with child and parents and seeing children thrive in all environments and circumstances. She can provide support in both English and Hebrew and is member of the Dutch Institute of Psychologists (PSYCHOLOOG NIP: 235955).
