Liz Stammers

Liz first got a taste of international life working as an au pair in Spain as a teenager, and from then on knew she wanted to be part of an international community. Originally from England, Liz settled in the Netherlands in 2007 and has been busy raising a bilingual family and working within the international community ever since. For the last 6 years Liz has been employed as a School Counsellor supporting international children and families at both International School of the Hague and the British School in the Netherlands.

With a background in psychology and social work, Liz has more than 20 years of supporting children and families in a variety of roles. Liz is dedicated to helping young people navigate the challenges of life, so that they can thrive emotionally and socially. Liz’s approach is rooted in a diverse range of therapeutic techniques such as core counselling skills, cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, solution focussed therapy, psycho-education and mindfulness. Liz believes in tailoring interventions to each individuals unique needs and circumstances. Liz is committed to equality, anti-discrimination and cultural sensitivity. Collaboration is also key to Liz’s practice, and she aims to build a team around the child, by working hand in hand with young people, their parents and professionals.
